When translating your documentation, tectranslate uses what is known as a "Translation Memory System", or TMS for short.

These electronic memory aids for translators work by storing in a database every single sentence that has already been translated for you.

Then, when the same sentence reappears later in the same or another document, the original translation can be included in the new translation after a quick check by the translator.

1. Your translation jobs can be processed even more quickly since, if the text contains a high number of repetitions, large parts of it can be "recycled", thereby saving time.

2. Time is money – and the translation business is no exception. This means that we can offer attractive discounts if your material contains repeated sentences.

3. By ensuring that the same translation is used for the same content, we can guarantee greater consistency in the translated text, making your documents even easier to read.

It's important to note here, though, that translation memory systems are not the same as "machine translation" (MT) or automatic translation programs, such as SYSTRAN or Google Translate. Instead, each and every text is still translated by one of tectranslate's qualified human specialists. The TMS simply helps us to improve the speed and consistency of the translation process.

As a general rule, tectranslate uses the market-leading SDL TRADOS system. If you wish, though, we are also happy to work with STAR Transit Satellite if your documents have been prepared appropriately.
